Travel and Tourism Certificate Program
This part-time career training program will prepare you to join the diverse and exciting travel and tourism industry. Graduates are qualified to enter a variety of tourism sectors including: travel agencies, tour companies, airlines, cruise lines, hotels and many other related companies. The travel professional provides a vital service for individuals or groups whether travelling for business or pleasure. So expand your horizons and entrepreneurial spirit and train for your "ticket" to a fulfilling career.
The total tuition for this certificate program is $1900. The tuition is divided equally between the two courses in the program and students pay for each course individually prior to its start date.
Part-time Training
Designed for individuals who do not have the time to devote to a full-time daytime schedule, this program grants you the flexibility to study while you continue to pursue your weekday activities. In other words, this program enables you to "earn while you learn" by offering the courses at times that do not interfere with daytime employment. Classes are offered weeknights (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30-9:30pm) and Saturdays (8:30am-4:30pm).
Admission Requirements:
Students should have high school graduation and basic keyboarding skills. Fluency in English is required. Good communication skills are essential for success in the travel industry.
Commencement Dates:
Students may enter the program at the commencement of any course that does not have a prerequisite, specifically: 1. The Tourism Professional, Hotel Operation, Travel Destinations; 2. Travel Products and Administration, Tour Operations.
Program Duration:
Students have 12 weeks to complete the Certificate Program. The program can be completed in 6 weeks if all courses are taken consecutively.
Individual Courses:
Students may choose to take individual courses without completing the full program. Students who successfully complete the two course program within two years will receive a Certificate of Program
Evaluation:
Students must achieve an overall standing of 70 percent (the industry standard) to receive a certificate. The grades will be a combination of quizzes, projects and final exam. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY and 10 percent of the grade will be based on attendance and class participation.
Industry Affiliations (optional):
The Travel and Tourism Certificate Program will thoroughly prepare students to write the following Travel Industry certification exams. It is highly recommended that students write as many as possible, as they greatly increase employability. The instructor will advise the students when and how to do so.
Courses:
In order to be eligible to receive the Certificate of Travel and Tourism, students must successfully complete the following two courses: 1.Travel Destinations, The Tourism Professional, Airline Industry Practices and Procedures; 2.Travel Products and Administration; Tour Operations.
Optional Piratical Training
You are welcomed and recommended to join 5 days OPT (Optional Piratical Training) which is include Niagara fall, Toronto, 1000 islands, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec) after you complete the level one. The OPT cost is 487.00 CAD, include 2 night 4-5 star hotel stays.

Travel Destinations
Using the Internet, atlas and destination references, you will learn to locate, research and describe major tourist destinations worldwide. You will identify the language(s), currency, airline(s), major landmarks and tourism attractions of the countries covered, as well as the travel documentation required. You will cover capitals and major cities, gateways, and airport codes as well as topographical features. Further topics include: why travelers choose to visit certain destinations, current affairs that affect travel such as climate and cultural considerations.
The Tourism Professional
Being a Tourism Professional is a multifaceted role, and entails more than possessing knowledge of products and geography. It is also important to be an excellent communicator, to work within ethical and legal guidelines, and to be able to determine and meet your clients' needs. This course will focus on the sales and marketing of travel products and services which is an essential component for success in this competitive industry.
Airline Industry Practices and Procedures
Note: Please also register in "Travel Industry Automation" simultaneously with "Airline Industry Practices and Procedures".
As a travel consumer, all you need to know is flight schedules, meal service and cost. However, as a Tourism Professional you must know much more! This course will prepare you to construct a flight itinerary. You will learn how to correctly determine domestic, trans border, and international air fares and applicable taxes, select flights from the Official Airline Guide, understand and explain flight rules, read and issue IATA airline tickets and interpret airline terminology. Charter flight rules, frequent Flyer programs, the mileage system and in-flight services will also be covered.
Hotel Operations
Basic hotel operations include the hotel booking, contract establish and keeping; daily hotel operation. You will be introduced to the different hotel system, daily hotel operation, customer service,emergency solution and communication skill.

Tour Operations
Many travelers prefer to book package tours or charters. You will be introduced to the different types of tours and operators. You will learn the costing procedures, advantages of tours, the major tour wholesalers and operators of advance booking charters, inclusive tour charters, foreign independent tours, and group tours. Travel Products and Administration
There are many travel products and suppliers with which the Travel Professional must be familiar. This course will examine hotel accommodation, car rentals, rail travel, cruises, travel documentation and related administrative procedures. You will learn to critically analyze promotional materials to identify the best product for your client or company. Travel insurance will be explained in detail. Students will also learn to use the Internet to locate reliable and timely travel information.
