Eric's Story Files: "7 Habits"
12 years ago, my friend Albert loaned me his audio cassette - a short version of 7 Habits by Steven Covey. I listened to it and thought it was good. But I never read his book and therefore never knew how much I had missed out ... until this Monday. After lunch I walked into a Indigo bookstore near my office. That paperback "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" caught my eyes. I bought it and I went to Tim Horton to get a cup of French vanilla. I found a quiet corner at the concourse of First Canadian Place, sat down and started reading it. That was almost 12:30 PM. I hadn't been able to put it down until 2:15 PM ... And I just missed my 2 o'clock meeting. You know what happened that evening at VicCollage - I gave the book to Ivan. But you don't know what happened after. That evening I felt I had parted with a good friend. Tuesday morning, I went to the same bookstore and bought another copy. While I thought all of you could benefit tremendously from this book, I Googled (couldn't resist the temptation) ... and found a "pirated" PDF copy of the same book. Alas! The pirated copy of an information product is almost as good as the original one. Steven you may receive a little less royalty but a great number of people will thank you for what I did!. I turned the PDF into a Word document so I could underline or highlighted impactful words. Minutes ago I thought I should give you an edited copy after I read it from cover to cover --- with boldface, underlining and highlighting, but I have just changed my mind. Why don't we read it together! It would be such a marvelous idea if we read it together and exchange our thoughts along this journey. Trust me my friends, this will be a powerful experience that I know will change your behaviors and relationships and communications and so much more --- at work and in life. And most importantly, you will become a healthy and happy person if you read and live the advices by Steven Covey.
