Primary duties & responsibilities consist of:
Collaborate with business teams to analyze requirements and create detailed specifications.
Maintain and enhance existing Stored Procedures, Triggers, Views, DTS Packages, SSIS Packages, SSRS Reports and SQL Jobs.
Provide production support for existing and newly developed processes.
Design and create SQL components applying strong data modeling skills.
Conduct quantitative analytics
Lead efforts in development of new models, analytic processes or system approaches.
Create flexible and scalable components built with future needs in mind.
Work with business testers to create test case documents. Conduct and oversee user-acceptance testing.
Provide mentoring and training to client/server programming team.
Understand the various parts of the business and data flow through the various systems to develop data quality, data cleansing and data governance rules and structures.
Provide ad-hoc and production support.
Assist in the building and maintenance of the reporting systems. Participate in BI system architecture design, maintenance and upgrades as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Required:
At least 3 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 server side development including (SSIS, SSRS, SSMS)
At least 3 years of experience with T-SQL (Transact SQL) Stored Procedures and Triggers. Ability to both write good T-SQL code, and assist developers in tuning theirs.
Very strong analytical skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and also work independently.
Proven experience in meeting deadlines.
Effective verbal and written communication for both a technical and non-technical audience.
Must have a strong understanding of how the SQL Server database engine works, including but not limited to: Physical storage, indexing, physical database design best practices, and the Query Optimizer
Demonstrated ability to create normalized database schemas utilizing data modeling discipline. Understanding of normalization, de-normalization, and the difference between the two. Ability to create schemas for OLTP databases
Preferred:
Experience with data modeling and data governance.
Understanding of SQL Server features such as XML, Service Broker, Full-Text, etc. and how they are used.
Experience in VB.Net and/or C#.
